Apparent tornado strikes mobile home park

A mobile home park in Montgomery sustained heavy damage after being struck by an apparent tornado Wednesday, according to the Montgomery Emergency Communications Department.


Emergency responders were at the Sunshine Village Mobile Home Community near the intersection of Wares Ferry Road and East Boulevard at midday Wednesday.
Firefighters received a call at 11:22 a.m. to respond to mobile home park.

Twelve mobile homes have been badly damaged. There were no reported injuries. There was a reported gas leak, but it has been shut off.

Temporary housing helps thousands in North Dakota

Font Size:Default font sizeLarger font sizeThe Federal Emergency Management Agency says more than 4,600 North Dakotans have lived in temporary housing provided by the agency after record flooding in the state earlier this year.

That's about the same number of people who live in the city of Grafton, or the entire counties of Sargent or Sioux.

FEMA has provided temporary housing units on private sites, and also worked with the Army Corps of Engineers on temporary neighborhoods.

The temporary housing is mainly in the Minot area. Souris River flooding swamped much of the city and damaged more than 4,000 homes and businesses.
