Temporary housing helps thousands in North Dakota

Font Size:Default font sizeLarger font sizeThe Federal Emergency Management Agency says more than 4,600 North Dakotans have lived in temporary housing provided by the agency after record flooding in the state earlier this year.

That's about the same number of people who live in the city of Grafton, or the entire counties of Sargent or Sioux.

FEMA has provided temporary housing units on private sites, and also worked with the Army Corps of Engineers on temporary neighborhoods.

The temporary housing is mainly in the Minot area. Souris River flooding swamped much of the city and damaged more than 4,000 homes and businesses.
